Privacy Policy

Nowbar collects no data.

Nowbar does not collect, store or share any personal information. It has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising.

What stays on your Mac

To show what's playing, Nowbar reads the current song (artist, title, position and length) from Apple Music or Spotify on your Mac, and sends them previous, play/pause and next when you click those buttons. Your settings and a cache of album covers are stored on your Mac only. You can clear the cache in Nowbar's About window.

Album covers

When Apple Music can't provide the cover of a song, Nowbar looks it up in Apple's public iTunes Search service by artist and song title. For Spotify, Nowbar downloads the cover from the image link Spotify provides. These requests contain only the song's artist and title or the image address, and are made without cookies or any identifier. Apple's and Spotify's own privacy policies apply to those services.
